Room acoustics of theatres, concert and conference halls, acoustics of recording studios

Listeners need not be acoustics professionals to recognize when, listening to speech or music, something is wrong, or that the quality of listening conditions does not correspond to their expectations and requirements. If the majority of an audience has difficulties in understanding the speakers´words, or if the impression arises that individual musical instruments or groups have either too distant or too diffuse a sound, this is clear sign of poor acoustics in the hall.

Good conditions for listening are the prerequisite for participants´satisfaction from any cultural or social event held in auditoriums and conference/teaching rooms, and tend to contribute towards higher numbers of visitors at live performances and other events.

Measurement of room acoustics in the famous, and newly reconstructed, "Estates Theater" in Prague

Such listening directly result from the correct acoustic solution of the room. When account is taken of the purpose of the project for construction or reconstruction of buildings or halls, it is indispensable to pay attention, as early as possible in the design stage, to acoustic quantities, such as reverberation time, volume and clarity of sound. For this reason, we frequently use computer simulation for sound propagation in the room concerned. Upon completion of construction work, the properties of the hal are checked using additional measurements. Computer simulation and measurements from various locations in the hall result in a set of impulse responses which, in turn, is the basis for calculating important parameters for listening quality. The company has at its disposal state-of-the-art equipment for measurement, as well as the necessary software for computer simulations in the field of sound acoustics.
